There is a movement afoot to place pressure members of congress when it comes to supporting Donald Trump’s awful, give-the-wealthiest-yet-another-tax-break Obamacare replacement plan.
For example, Move On recently set forth the above ad on Twitter, hoping to sway Dana Rohrabacher, our cowardly congressman, from yet again going along with the president.
If we’ve learned one thing about Rohrabacher through the first 50 days of the Trump presidency, it’s that he’s an even greater wuss than previously presumed. Oh, he talked a little bit of a good game in his digital town hall. But if you look at the actual record, Dana has yet to:
A. Stand up against Trump on any issue. Like, nary a one.
B. Condemn Trump for any of the mocking, insults, hateful tone—even though he always talks about “changing the tone” in Washington.
C. Address the proposed budget. You’ll wait. And wait. And wait. And he’ll say nothing. This is the Dana Rohrabacher blueprint to winning at home in an increasingly blue district. He stays quiet when tough issues arise, then sheepishly casts a vote along party lines. Just watch, because it’s as predictable as apple in an apple pie. For example, the Meals on Wheels piece of the budget is a loser. An absolute loser. It won’t last. But Rohrabacher’s impulses are to vote far right while speaking (on domestic issues) without voice. So he’ll almost certainly vote to cut the program, while talking about surfing.
